PROJECT BRIEF
The objective was to design a campaign to raise awareness about dark patterns—deceptive design techniques that manipulate users into unintended actions. The challenge was to create an engaging and thought-provoking design that informs users while prompting them to be more critical while engaging with modern-day digital experiences.
The objective was to design a campaign to raise awareness about dark patterns—deceptive design techniques that manipulate users into unintended actions. The challenge was to create an engaging and thought-provoking design that informs users while prompting them to be more critical while engaging with modern-day digital experiences.
CONCEPT AND PROCESS
The final result was a series of five posters, each visually representing a distinct dark pattern. From a wide range of examples, the following four categories—disguised ads, bait and switch, drip pricing, and basket sneaking—were selected.
A grungy, blurry and abrasive aesthetic with textured typography was chosen that reflects the deceptive nature of the subject, evoking intrigue and highlighting the gray area where dark patterns operate.

The visual style of the posters was inspired by an experimental process of photographing objects around me through a cylindrical lens, followed by digitally manipulating the images to create textures for each poster.
